The Webster Groves Herb Society was organized in 1971 to promote growing and using herbs.

About Us.

Motto:     Each One, Teach One

The Webster Groves Herb Society (WGHS) is dedicated to sharing knowledge, cultivating community, and celebrating the many uses of herbs.

Our Gardens:

WGHS members maintain herb gardens at:

- Hawken House

- Faust Park, and

- Mudd’s Grove

where visitors can experience a variety of culinary, medicinal, and ornamental herbs.

Scholarships & Community Outreach

The Webster Groves Herb Society supports horticultural education and community gardening through scholarships and grants. We provide funding and resources to local schools and community gardens, and each year we donate fresh herbs from our plant sale to more than 30 organizations, including schools, food banks, and churches.

Annual Herb Sale

Each April, WGHS hosts a large and beloved Herb Sale, offering a wide selection of culinary and medicinal herbs, native plants, fruits, and vegetables. The sale is designed to be a one-stop shop for gardeners, with healthy plants and knowledgeable members ready to help.

Autumn Herb Gathering

In October, we host the Autumn Herb Gathering at the Hawken House, where visitors can shop for handcrafted herbal products and seasonal goods. Throughout the summer, members hold workshops to create herbal crafts and treats that are featured at this event.

Programs & Community Events

WGHS hosts a variety of educational, social, and shopping events throughout the year, bringing together people who love herbs, gardening, and lifelong learning.

Missouri Botanical Garden Outreach

Six times a year, WGHS hosts an informational table at the Missouri Botanical Garden, where members share their knowledge and enthusiasm for herbs with the public. Each appearance highlights a different herbal theme, such as preparing for the annual Herb Sale or how to enjoy herbs.    These outreach events allow us to promote herbal education, introduce visitors to the Webster Groves Herb Society, and inspire new ways to grow and use herbs.
